Legal Translation Services in Ontario
Law firms and in-house counsel send us contracts, corporate records, filings and evidence bundles. Business documents are priced per word; when a court or a registry needs a certified version, we prepare that too.
How business work is priced
Business documents are charged by the word, not by the page, because that is what the work actually depends on. Certification is a separate service and only some documents need it.
Per-word translation
- Price depends on the language pair, volume, file format and deadline
- Exact figure quoted from your actual file before work starts
- Glossary kept and reused across your projects
- Delivered in the format you sent, layout preserved
Certified translation
- For documents submitted to authorities, courts or registries
- Signed certification statement with a copy of the original attached
- Priced per document, not per word
- Most orders in 1-2 business days
Transcription and voice
- Transcription of recordings, interviews and meetings
- Subtitles and voice-over available with the translation
- Desktop publishing when the layout has to be rebuilt
- Quoted from the recording length and language
Prices do not include HST. Business enquiries go to b2b@taontario.ca; certified documents can be ordered through the order form.
What is in every project
The same working rules apply whether the job is two pages or two hundred.
- Defined terms kept identical throughout the contract and its annexes
- Party names, dates, amounts and clause numbering verified separately
- Legal terms rendered by function, not by dictionary substitution
- Confidentiality terms signed before files are shared
- Certified version prepared when a court, registry or authority asks for one
- Delivery in the file format you sent, layout preserved
How we work
Send the files
Email them to b2b@taontario.ca with the language pair and your deadline. Confidentiality terms are signed first if you prefer.
Get a fixed quote
We count the actual words and quote a total, not a range, together with a delivery date.
We translate and check
One glossary for the project, and a separate check of numbers, names and references.
Delivery and follow-up
Same format, layout preserved. The glossary stays with your account for later work.
Legal documents we handle
Send the whole set at once: one quote, one glossary, consistent terminology across every file. We work with clients in Toronto, Ottawa and the rest of Ontario.
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Business translation | $0.10-0.20 per word |
| Minimum per translation | $99 |
| Certified translation, first page | $59 |
| Each additional page | $49 |
| Transcription | from $3 per minute |
Prices do not include HST. The exact total is confirmed from your files before the work starts.
What costs time and money
Four patterns that turn a straightforward project into a slow one.
- Defined terms translated two waysIf "the Agreement" becomes two different phrases, the document argues with itself. One glossary per project prevents it.
- Annexes sent after the main contractSend the whole set at once so numbering, cross-references and defined terms match.
- Assuming certification is includedBusiness translation is not certified by default. If a court or registry needs certification, say so and we quote that route.
- A deadline given after the work startsCourt dates drive everything. Tell us the date first and we confirm whether it fits before you commit.
Questions about legal translation
How is legal translation priced?
Per word, from $0.10 to $0.20 depending on the language pair, the volume, the format and the deadline, with a minimum of $99 per translation. Certified documents are priced per page instead.
Can you certify a translation for court?
Yes. Certified translation is priced per page and includes a signed certification statement with a copy of the original attached.
Do you sign an NDA?
Yes, before files are shared. We can also work under your firm's own agreement.
Do you handle large evidence bundles?
Yes. Large volumes get a per-word quote for the set, and long projects are delivered in agreed batches.
Will you keep our precedent wording?
Yes. Send a glossary or earlier translations and we follow that wording. Otherwise we build a glossary and reuse it in later work.
What about client immigration files?
Those are certified per document rather than per word. We quote both routes when a package mixes the two.
