Birth Certificate Translation in Ontario

A birth certificate is one of the most common civil documents submitted for immigration, passport, school and legal matters. If the certificate is not in English or French, the receiving office may ask for a certified translation. Translation Agency of Ontario translates birth certificates into English and prepares them for official use in Ontario and federal applications.

When this translation is needed

Certified birth certificate translation may be needed for IRCC permanent residence, citizenship, sponsorship, passport applications, school registration, name correction, estate matters or court files. The translation must clearly show the person's name, date of birth, place of birth, parents' names, registration numbers, stamps and handwritten notes where present. Consistency matters because the birth certificate is often compared against a passport, marriage certificate or other identity document.

Documents we translate

We translate short-form and long-form birth certificates, birth extracts, civil registry records and related identity records. If the document is part of an immigration package, review our IRCC certified translation page or the OINP document translation page. The existing service page for this document is certified birth certificate translation. For related family documents, you may also need marriage certificate translation.

How to order

Upload a clear image of the entire certificate, including margins, seals and any back-side notes. Use the Toronto or Ottawa quote form. We confirm the price and whether a standard certified translation, notarized option or ATIO-certified option is appropriate. Starting rates are available on the pricing page.

Details that matter

Birth certificates can contain registry abbreviations, parents' names, marginal notes, certificate numbers and local administrative terms. We translate the visible text and preserve enough structure for the receiving office to compare the translation with the original. If the certificate is used with a passport application or immigration package, send related identity documents so name spelling and place names can be handled consistently.

Delivery format

Most clients receive a digital copy first. If the recipient requires a printed certified translation, mention that during the quote request so we can include delivery time and cost.

FAQ

Do you translate stamps and seals?

Yes. Stamps, seals, signatures and registry notes are included where they are visible and relevant to the document.

Can I send a phone photo?

A clear phone photo is usually enough for quoting. Make sure all corners and text are readable.

What if names are spelled differently on documents?

Send the related passport or ID if spelling consistency is important. We will flag obvious differences before completion.

If the certificate has a back side, send it even if it appears blank. Some civil records include registry notes, stamps or authentication marks on the reverse side.
