IRCC Certified Translation in Ontario
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada usually requires a certified translation when a document is not in English or French. Translation Agency of Ontario prepares certified translations for permanent residence, citizenship, sponsorship, work permits, study permits and other immigration files. Our goal is to make the translated document easy for an officer to compare with the original, including names, dates, stamps and official notes.
When this translation is needed
You may need IRCC translation for civil records, education documents, identity pages or background checks issued outside Canada. Certified translation is different from a casual translation because it includes a signed statement from the translator or agency confirming accuracy. Notarization is a separate step. It is not always required for IRCC, but it may be needed if the instructions ask for a notarized copy or a certified true copy of the original.

Certified vs. notarized translation
A certified translation confirms the accuracy of the translated text. A notarized copy or certified true copy is about the copy of the original document, not the translation itself. Many IRCC files only need certified translation, but some checklists ask for additional copy certification. If you upload the instruction page with your documents, we can quote the format that matches the request instead of adding unnecessary steps.

Do I need notarization?
Not always. Certified translation and notarization are different. We can tell you when notarization or a certified true copy may be appropriate.

If your document was issued with both original-language and partial English text, send the whole page rather than cropping it. Mixed-language certificates still need careful review so untranslated stamps, notes and headings are not missed.
